125th Anniversary Celebrations at Lessingham Methodist Chapel

In 2016 we celebrated the 125th Anniversary of our present building. We have the date as recorded on the two foundation stones in the wall of the Chapel. However, research tells us that approval was given to establish a primitive Methodist worshipping community in Lessingham by the Methodist Conference of 1846.

This means that not only have we celebrated 125 years of our current building but 170 years of Methodist worship in Lessingham!!

The first of these preachers to help us celebrate was Rev Inderjit Bhogal, past President of Conference, who came, with his wife, Kathy, for a weekend in June. Our little congregation was so blessed by his ministry and he and Kathy enjoyed their weekend in Norfolk so much that they have promised to return and see more of the area.

On 14th August Bishop Alan, Bishop of Thetford, came and brought us his message. We invited all our Anglican friends from the Coastal Parishes to join us on that occasion as he is their Bishop and well loved in the Diocese.

Our main event of the year was the weekend of 17th and 18th September when our Harvest Flower Festival was held and our preacher for the Sunday, was  Rev Alan Ashton, a previous Minister in the old Cromer and Sheringham Circuit.

What a wonderful year it was!!
